E-mail Obfuscator is an online tool for webmasters that obfuscates e-mail addresses that you enter, making them less vulnerable to spammers who use e-mail harvesting software, also called spam-bots.

E-mail Obfuscator generates HTML source code for a link which uses the obfuscated version of the e-mail address you entered. You can simply cut and paste this source code into your HTML editor. It is compatible with all major browsers

Usage Instructions are below.

E-mail Obfuscator

E-mail Address: (Example: webmaster@example.com)
Optional Display Text: (Example: The Webmaster)
Obfuscated E-mail Link HTML:

Usage Instructions:

  1. In the first field — "E-mail address", enter the e-mail address you want to have obfuscated. For example:

    webmaster@example.com

  2. In the second field — "Optional Display Text", enter the text you want to have the user see associated with the e-mail address in the hyperlink that is generated. For example:

    The Webmaster

  3. As its name implies, the "Optional Display Text" field is optional. If you leave it empty, E-mail Obfuscator will use the obfuscated version of the e-mail address entered in the "E-mail address" field.
  4. Press the "Generate Obfuscated E-mail Link" button. This will create an anchor tag containing an obfuscated e-mail link using the information you provided in the steps above in the "Obfuscated E-mail Link HTML" text area. Additionally, a pop-up window will come up entitled "Link Tester." The link in the pop-up window was created with the code in the "Obfuscated E-mail Link HTML" text area. Clicking on the link in the popup window is useful for determining if the link you just created is exactly what you want.
  5. Press the "Select Text" button. This will select the text in the "Generate Obfuscated E-mail Link" text area. Copy the text to the clipboard and then paste it into your HTML editor. In Windows operating systems, you can do this by pressing Control—>C to copy the text into the clipboard from the text area and Control—>V to paste the text from the clipboard into your HTML editor.

Note: keep all of the code that E-mail Obfuscator generates on the same line in your HTML editor. Spanning the code across lines may cause the link to be displayed improperly.

  6. If you wish to create another obfuscated e-mail link, you can do so more efficiently by clicking on the "Reset" button. This clears all the text in the form.
